SNORC MTB Club – Trail Updates & Community News

ree

Here’s the latest on what’s happening across the Hornsby Shire.

Heritage Steps Helicopter Operations:

  • Planned for Monday, 18th August, with Tuesday, 19th August as a backup in case of rain. This was recently postponed due to inclement weather Sydney has been dealing with.

  • These works are likely the last operation for the Heritage Steps, which are expected to be completed before the Quarry Circulation opens on 1st November.

  • Potential short-notice dates later this month (Friday 22nd or Monday 25th) if weather causes further delays.

Trail Repair & Upgrades (Aug–Oct) Synergy Trails will be carrying out some important trail upgrades:

  • Lava Flow: Boardwalk installation near landslide & rock armouring near entry.

  • Green Loop: Fixing technical corner to create an “A & B” line for all abilities.

  • Black Descent: Rock armouring improvements.

  • Junction: Revising rollers at the new Heritage Steps junction behind the container.

What this means for riders:

Expect sectional trail closures across multiple trails from August through to October.

Looking Ahead:

  • Post-October, further closures may occur with the development of the OMV platform, including areas like the dirt jumps. More info will be shared as details are confirmed.

  • Council have shown preliminary plans for and asphalt pump track adjacent to the Dirt Jumps, this will greatly increase the value of OMV and its overall riding experience.

  • Amenities are also planned for this area with toilets and access to water.

Community Park Opening – Late 2025:

Council is planning to open parts of the park to the public later this year, and SNORC may be involved!

  • Possibilities include hosting a marquee or small event to celebrate the opening and highlight the MTB community.

  • Planning is in the early stages, so we’ll keep you updated and get your input on how SNORC can be involved.
